This book comprises reprints of a series of review articles covering 68 essential oils published in Perfumer & Flavorist magazine, under the title Progress in essential oils, during the period 2005–2007. For each essential oil, compositional data are provided for oils differing in terms of their geographical origin, the part of the plant from which the oil is obtained and/or the method by which the oil is obtained. Also included (pp. 182–199) is a paper entitled Commercial essential oils: truth and consequences which examines essential oil compositional variation, processing and identification.
