UK Patent Application

Patent number: GB 2 440 202 A

Patent priority: GB 0614056 (20060714)

Language(s): English

A cooling system for beverages (e.g. beer) comprises a chill tank containing a liquid coolant (e.g. water) with conduits for a liquid refrigerant located in or around the tank to chill the coolant liquid in the tank. The liquid refrigerant is supplied to the tank by a twin compressor system consisting of a 1st compressor arranged to operate alone to supply cooled refrigerant to the tank during a start up period and a 2nd compressor which operates in tandem with the 1st compressor and is arranged to start up after the 1st compressor to increase the flow of refrigerant and/or reduce its temp., while reducing the overall initial current draw on the system. The beverage is passed from a supply tank to a cooling coil within the coolant tank and then by a beverage line to a dispensing point, passing through a sub-cooling unit through which the coolant from the tank is also passed. The cooling module may also include a cooling coil through which the cooled beverage passes en-route to the dispense site.
